Bayreuth

Local spelling:

Bayreuth

World famous for the annual Richard Wagner festivals, the city centers on this composer. With the Wagner Opera House, the museum and his villa “Wahnfried”.

It is the major cultural center of the area with events year round.

The Margravial Opera House is beautiful and well worth a visit and quite relaxing is a stroll through the gardens at the Erimitage.

Bayreuth is another of the many towns with it’s own charm and, depending what you look for, many things to do and see.

Another stop, for those interested, is a tour at the Maisel brewery museum.

Please note, that during the time of the Wagner festivals the hotels in and around the city charge a premium.

See the above link at Sights and Walking Tour for a pdf flier.

A current festival list can be found on the Bayreuth web site.

One of the most beautiful and romantic events in Franconia is certainly the Bayreuth Summernight's Festival in the Eremitage.
