Day 1: Overnight flight to Frankfurt
Day 2: After your morning arrival you will board your bus and en route will be served a hot dog lunch from the on-board kitchen, as you proceed to Eisenach for a guided tour of the Wartburg. On to Eisleben to view Luther’s birth house and St. Andrews Church, where he preached his last 4 sermons. Continue to the Naumburg area to check into your hotel for a 3 night stay. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Following breakfast travel to Wittenberg for a guided walking tour of the city’s highlights including the Castle Church with the Theses Doors, the Martin Luther House, St. Mary’s Church and free time to explore the town on your own. You will be able to attend an English church service in one of the churches Dr. Luther preached in. (B,D)
Day 4: Dresden, free time to explore this beautiful city on the Elbe on your own. The Zwinger, Frauenkirche, and the Green Vault in the Dresden Royal Palace are but a few places you may choose to see. (B,D)
Day 5: Erfurt, the city in which Martin Luther entered the monastery and was ordained, is scheduled for a guided walking tour. On your way to the ornate Catholic pilgrimage church of Vierzehnheiligen, you pass by the impressive Veste Coburg, where Luther took refuge for 6 months. A 2 night stay in the area of Bamberg is planned. (B,D)
Day 6: Today, visit the famous walled city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber located on the Romantic Road, with free time to shop and explore. In the afternoon return to Bamberg for a chance to stroll through the streets of this beautiful city. (B,D)
Day 7: Nuremberg was the first Imperial city to embrace the Reformation in 1525. Here, on your own, you can explore and discover the Old Town, visit the points of interest such as the Kaiserburg, Medieval Dungeons and the quaint shops at the “Handwerkersmarkt” etc. or do some shopping in the multitude of stores. Continue on to a one night stay in the Chiemsee area. (B,D)
Day 8: A tour of Herrenchiemsee palace, built by King Ludwig II, is planned for the morning and then, weather permitting, take the special bus and elevator up to Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus). Dinner in Oberammergau and overnight in the Murnau area for a 2 night stay. (B,D)
Day 9: The King Ludwig’s fairy tale castle of Neuschwanstein, is the first stop of the morning. A tour of the cheese factory at Kloster Ettal includes a traditional cheese “Brotzeit” for lunch. Afterwards enjoy Ludwig’s 3rd palace, Schloss Linderhof, with it’s magnificent gardens. Round off the day by visiting the quaint alpine village of Mittenwald, world famous for the violins build there. (B,L,D)
Day 10: Munich, with a driving/walking tour and time to shop and explore the city. Dinner is planned at the famous Hofbrauhaus. Continue on for one overnight stay in the Black Forest city of Pforzheim. (B,D)
Day 11: Today’s highlight is a two hour river cruise on the Rhine, with a stop in the historic wine town of Ruedesheim and weather permitting, a relaxing cable car ride over the vineyards. Overnight in Ruesselsheim. (B,D)
Day 12: After an early breakfast transfer to the airport in Frankfurt and your flight back to the USA.
