Overnight flight from the USA to Frankfurt
Day 1
Vierzehnheiligen, Bamberg
Your first stop after boarding your bus in Frankfurt on route to Bamberg will be the pilgrimage church of Vierzehnheiligen, the basilica dedicated to the Fourteen Holy Helpers,
Then on to the city of Bamberg spreading across seven hills, like Rome, and home to the only papal tomb north of the Alps. You will have time to explore this beautiful old city with a self guided tour.

Day 2
Pilsen, Prague
Your first stop today is in the town of Pilsen, with a visit to St. Bartholomew's Church and if agreed upon a descend into the most famous cellars in the world, the miles long beer storage cellars of the original Pilsner brewery. Onto Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, with the famous statue of the Infant Jesus located in the Church of Our Victorious Lady and home to the largest medieval castle in the world.

Day 3
Prague, Kutna Hora, Opole
Your journey continues through the Czech Republic stopping in Kutna Hora to visit the eerie Sedlec Ossuary. A short stop in Nysa and then on to the Opole area.

Day 4
Czestochowa, Auschwitz to Krakow
Czestochowa, the third largest Catholic pilgrimage site in the world and the home of the Black Madonna, where millions of visitors come every year to pray is your first stop today.
A visit at the former Auschwitz Concentration Camp and some time to explore this dreary site is scheduled on your way to Krakow.

Day 5
Krakow
A day to explore this city on your own, with a morning walking tour scheduled for those interested. An optional afternoon excursion to the amazing Wieliczka salt mines will be offered.
The about 2.2 mile long walking tour starts with a 210 ft descend on a wooden staircase of about 380 steps and will end at a depth of 443 ft, but will include an elevator ride back up.

Day 6
Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, Wadiwice and Olomouc
First stop is Kalvaria Zebrzydowska, Poland’s second most important pilgrimage shrine where Pope John Paul II often visited, onto Wadiwice, his birthplace and where he spent his youth. Stop in Olomouc at the Saint Wenceslas cathedral and the Holy Trinity column and continue on through Brno to Telc.

Day 7
Budweis, Cesky Krumlov, Passau
Travel through Budweis for a stroll in the unique medieval Old Town of Cesky Krumlov, established around 1253 with over 300 well preserved historical buildings. Then back to Germany and onto the Passau area.

Day 8
Marktl, Traunstein, Altoetting, Herrenchiemsee
Today you visit the town where Joseph Ratzinger, the current Pope Benedict XVI, was born, where he lived and went to school. You will be able to visit the Chapel of Mercy in Altoetting, which is presumed to be, over the centuries, the most visited pilgrimage site in the world and considered to be the German Lourdes.  A boat ride to the island of Herrenchiemsee to enjoy King Ludwig’s fabulous palace is also part of this day.

Day 9
Munich, Fuessen
Enjoy the day exploring Munich, the self proclaimed metropolis with a heart.  A walking tour will be offered for those interested and/or do some shopping, more sight seeing or people watching.
Next stop the magnificent Bavarian Alps.

Neuschwanstein, Wies
Scheduled today is a tour of King Ludwig’s must see fairy tale castle Neuschwanstein. Then onto the beautiful, ornate Wieskirche (Church in the Meadow or Pilgrimage Church of the Scourged Savior)

Regensburg
A day spent in this fabulous old city of Regensburg, famous for the Dom (Basilica) where Pope Benedict’s brother was active as priest and home of the famed Regensburger Domspatzen boys choir and the old town, which escaped World War II with minimal damage.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Heidelberg
The medieval walled city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is yours to investigate and savor today. Stroll through the narrow streets and rummaged around in the many specialty stores.
You will also be able to enjoy today the charming city of Heidelberg.

Rhine River cruise
Your last day will be spent on a 2 hour cruise on the Rhine along the stretch of the river housing a concentration of castles, which is found no where else in the world.
